At what age do they develop a filter?

Bean (4) to a woman at the grocery store: I LOVE your make up!

Woman (approximately 30): Awwwwe! That's so sweet! Thank you!

Bean: You look just like a scary clown! Scary clowns are my favorite!!!

Woman: (Quietly walks away with a shocked look)

What do you say in that moment???

    OMG! My kid did a similar thing in the grocery store, except that he just pointed and said really loudly, "mom! she looks like a witch!". And, yeah, she did. Huge amount of long blcak kinky frizzy hair and loads of makeup, black skirt. All she was missing was broom. Lol. Gotta love 'em, right??

    I want you to know that my mom and I have been reading your blog for a while. We have decided that my daughter and yours are twins from another life! The things you talk about are things that my daughter would say! My daughter is obsessed with zombies as well. We are having her 5th birthday party in March and it is a zombie birthday party. She loves watching the walking dead and how they make the zombies. We had to get zombie people stickers for my car instead of stick people. Just wanted to tell you how much we can relate to everything you post about your daughter.
